ABOUT OCEANS OF TIME

Oceans of Time Belize is a contemporary Spanish style oceanfront, 3-bedroom & 3-bathroom home in the heart of Maya Beach. All the necessary vacation amenities, from restaurants/bars to the grocery store, are within a 10-minute walk of the house.

The home is separated into two separate private secure units accessed by the locked grand entrance foyer. There is a first-floor two-bedroom two-bathroom poolside unit and a one- bedroom private penthouse apartment. Each is a self-contained standalone locked unit. The downstair two bedroom and two bath first floor unit comes with a fully equipped kitchen and has easy access to the pool, swim up bar and outside patio. The upstairs penthouse has a master bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchenette and outdoor covered patio area looking directly out to the sea. Both the poolside and the penthouse units can be rented together to a single vacation group and has a maximum occupancy of eight people. The first-floor poolside two-bedroom unit has maximum occupancy of four.

The space

Oceans of Time Belize is approved by the Belize Tourism Board and has met all required certifications by the Belize government for health, fire and safety. Property management and the cleaning staff take every measure to ensure that high cleaning standards are maintained at the residence at all times.

 

The poolside unit is a modern 2200 square foot space with a capstone feature of a 24’ by 18’ saltwater infinity pool with swim up bar. The pool is facing directly out to the open sea and gives the seamless appearance of just disappearing into the ocean’s horizon. The outside decking is a luxurious high-end natural stone and is outfitted with lounge chairs, cocktail tables, umbrellas and a six-person round glass table for socializing. Tropical palm trees and flowering bushes adorn the property with white Caribbean sand surrounding the entire home. The construction is all concrete with high ceilings and double-glazed German designed and imported hurricane windows throughout the house. The flooring is all imported travertine and there is AC and fans units in every room. The combination of concrete construction, travertine flooring, and air conditioning with fans helps the house to stays cool throughout the day. Placencia, and Maya Beach in particular, boasts some of the best beaches in Belize and the entire stretch of beach in front of the house is beautiful white sand that stretches along the coast and out into the sea. It’s an easy quick walk to great restaurants along the water in both directions.

The poolside unit has a king-sized bed in the master bedroom with a Belizean-made carved jaguar headboard. It has a comfortable lounging chair and ottoman to quietly read a book or work on a laptop. The master bathroom is luxurious and spa like with built-in closets, a rock wall, raw edge shelving, wavy tile walls in the shower and a large rain shower head.

The guest bedroom has a queen-sized four-poster bed with a hand carved palm tree headboard and beautiful 16’ sloping hardwood ceiling. There is a dresser with matching carved mirror flanked by glass sconces on either side. The bathroom has an open shower with a rain head and is decorated in imported travertine tile. Just outside the guest room door is an additional outdoor shower on the pool deck to bathe outside with nature.

The poolside living room is truly an “open concept” living space. The entire poolside wall opens up to the outside shaded patio and the infinity pool where the water appears to drop right into the ocean. The five panel bifold doors allow for the indoors and outdoors to merge into one luxurious Caribbean entertaining space. The living room contains a lounge area with a comfortable modern sectional sofa and high back wicker chairs, a four-seat breakfast bar, and a well-appointed kitchen. The kitchen contains plenty of counter space for cooking and has an electric glass cooktop, full-size convection oven/microwave, a side-by-side stainless-steel refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, dishes with cutlery and of course a great Ninja blender. The walls are tastefully decorated with a coastal theme and local Belizean artwork. Erwin Chan, a well-known local artist, paintings are displayed in multiple rooms throughout the house.

The upstairs owners suite adds an additional 800 square feet of space. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, bifold doors opening up to the outside porch, and walk-in closet with built-ins. There is a full bathroom in the hall accessible to both the living room and bedroom. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa, desk and chair for working remotely, and a well-appointed kitchenette. The kitchenette contains a full refrigerator, two-burner stove, toaster, coffee pot, blender, dishes with cutlery and a microwave. The option of renting the entire house would be great for a couple that wants to be a part of the larger group, but needs their own private getaway space away from the crowd at times. Due to the concrete construction, you hear virtually nothing from the first-floor level, it’s an oasis.

A full-size washer and dryer are located behind bifold doors in the lobby area with extra storage for empty suitcases. If guests come with scuba gear or bulky beach items arrangements can be made to store them in the locked maintenance room on the side of the house. Two paddleboards and pool floats are also stored in the maintenance room and available for use upon request.

​

Early mornings at the house are glorious with a straight view from each room of the rising sun over the ocean. Full floor to ceiling windows are in each bedroom facing out to the ocean, as well as the living room. Manatees or dolphins are visible in the early morning on occasion and evenings sitting next to the pool on a night with a full moon are definitely a treat.

​

The house is managed by the original builder and his wife, Elsner and Anna Balona, who are local to the area. Elsner knows the property better than anyone because he and his partner built it from the sand up. Anna and Elsner are warm and friendly hosts that will be available to greet you on arrival and will assist whenever needed throughout your stay in Maya Beach.
